ABOUT PIERCE PETER BRANDT

From regional theater to Broadway productions, chorus boy to leading man, cabarets to concert halls, Pierce has been there. He is a recipient of two DramaLogue (Backstage West) Awards and a Goodman Critics Award, as well as numerous accolades from critics and audiences alike for his performances across the US and Canada in Sir Cameron Mackintosh's original Broadway productions of Les Misérables and Martin Guerre (original New York cast), the national touring company of Jesus Christ Superstar (alongside stars Ted Neeley and Carl Anderson from the original film), as well as in numerous major musical productions at many of the US's prominent regional theaters, including Washington DC's Arena Stage, Minneapolis's Guthrie Theater, New York's City Center, Palo Alto-Mountain View's TheatreWorks, San Francisco's 42nd Street Moon, Pennsylvania's Allenberry Playhouse, Maryland's Olney Theater Center, Oakland's Woodminster Musicals, Walnut Creek's Festival Opera, San Jose's American Musical Theatre, Foster City's Hillbarn Theatre, San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater, and others. 

As a concert soloist, Pierce has performed with Symphony Silicon Valley and the California Pops Orchestra. In addition, he has also performed in two sold-out runs with his duo show (with Broadway's Jim Ambler) at Feinstein's at the Nikko in San Francisco. Pierce has also had success working as a voiceover actor, a recording artist, a vocal director, and a singer in countless private cabarets and industrials.

Pierce has worked with many of the musical theater world's most outstanding professionals, from producers and directors to composers, casting directors, actors, and musicians. Having started out as a child actor at the age of seven, and always an advocate of ongoing training, education, and practice, Pierce has studied with some of the industry's best and has been performing for over 40 years. Pierce enjoys sharing his experience, knowledge, and unique insight with singers and actors of all ages and all levels of experience.

As a teaching artist, in addition to running his private teaching studio since 2012, Pierce served on the faculty at American Conservatory Theater's  Young Conservatory in San Francisco for seven years, where he received ACT's Distinguished Artist Mentor Award. At ACT, Pierce also directed the Young Conservatory's Junior Cabaret Ensemble. In addition, Pierce has taught master classes and workshops for kids, teens, and adults throughout the country, and he served as a member of the artistic staff of the Stanford University Department of Drama for two years.

Pierce has been a member of Actors' Equity Association since 1996 (the union of professional actors and stage managers in the United States). He is listed in Who's Who in American Theatre 1999-2000 (volume 56), the Broadway League's Internet Broadway Database, and is mentioned in the book Letters from Backstage (Allworth Press)  by television and stage actor Michael Kostroff. 

Pierce is also a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), the largest professional association of teachers of singing in the world.
