I have seen Pierce in many stage productions and can say without reservation that he is an actor's actor. His superb skills are grounded in his craft, and craft can be taught, and craft can be learned. I can't imagine a better teacher.
– John Comerford, NYC Talent Agent (Paradigm/STE) to numerous celebrities and theater stars
Pierce has the remarkable combination of being a fabulous performer as well as an amazing teacher. He is kind, clear, precise, nurturing, and powerful in his instruction, and then backs it all up as a performer. He can take the most timid, young performer and create a safe place for him or her to grow. Truly remarkable.
– Debbie Wilson, Artistic Director, El Dorado Musical Theater, California
Working with Pierce was a wonderful experience. He is dedicated to the craft of being a singing actor. I would not hesitate to recommend him as a teacher of the art of theater.
– Brian Staufenbiel, Resident stage Director with San Francisco's Opera Parallele, Director of Voice and Opera program at UC Santa Cruz.
Pierce ranks among the most qualified, most capable, and most gifted. In adding to his wide knowledge and hands-on experience in the professional world, Pierce has the personality that makes him an excellent teacher.
– Ronn Goswick, Theatrical Producer and Production Stage Manager. Also former Managing Director of Reprise! Broadway's Best, Los Angeles.
I had the privilege of working with Pierce in Les Miserables. He is so talented and dedicated to his passion for the arts. Pierce is such a giving actor and his consistency and professionalism are to be respected and admired. He is an incredibly authentic person both on and off the stage.
– Candice Nicole, Professional Actor/Singer (A soloist with Disney in Concert, performing with major symphonies around the world. Also, Broadway productions of Les Misérables, How the Grinch Stole Christmas; Zombie Prom [film]).
Pierce is an incredible teacher and a great person! I took lessons with Peter for about 6 months. Going into lessons, I could not have imagined that the progress we made was even possible. For example, I have gained about 4-5 new notes in my "mix" voice, where were far too high for me to sing beforehand. Peter helped me to reach my potential with very tailored exercises that helped me understand some of the more nuanced and abstract concepts in singing, such as resonance in the "mask" and engagement of the vocal folds. Peter makes it easy for his students to practice at home by recording exercises and sending them to you after your lesson. This helped me to make my practice sessions structured, consistent, and efficient. Most importantly, Peter is a kind person and supportive teacher. I perform regularly in the area, and he went of of his way to attend my shows, and even invited his friends to come along with him. I can't recommend Peter highly enough.

Pierce is the best! I have seen him successfully improve people of all ages in their singing. This includes my young daughter, my friend's teen daughter, and professional adults alike. He is an accomplished singer and theater star in his own right, and not only has his own talented voice, but also has a talent and passion for teaching his craft to others. In addition, he is a very nice human being. 6 stars if I could!

My 13 year old daughter needed help preparing for an audition for her middle school musical and I'm so grateful we found Pierce at Performance Singing. His teaching style is thorough and practical with vocal exercises that really help build her voice. He even provides vocal tracks so she can practice at home. During the lessons he is always very patient and kind. He keeps it fun and positive while still imparting a great deal of information. He fills my daughter with confidence and encourages her to take the next step, even when it's a little out of her comfort zone. Her voice improves with every lesson and she LOVES the lessons. Our initial plan was to take just a few lessons for audition prep but we are many months past that audition now and my daughter wants to keep doing lessons. With instruction from Pierce, she has improved her singing voice well beyond what I thought possible, but more importantly, she has discovered the joy of singing.

Pi is an amazing singing teacher and performance coach for my two sons. He has helped out boys develop beautiful singing voices and gain the confidence to perform with poise in front of a big audience. He also helps them get ready for auditions with thoughtful song and monologue selections and performance feedback. We feel very luck to have Pierce as a voice teacher and friend. 5 stars!

We love Pierce and what he has done vocally for our son, Zach! He is a wonderful vocal instructor and has made our son a better singer. When we started with Pierce we knew it was a good fit. He understood Zach and his voice. We couldn't have asked for a better vocal instructor! Thank you. :)

This person is amazing! He teaches great warmups, helps pick out great songs for you to sing and he perfects them with you. Pierce helped me get multiple main roles in theater. Thank you for everything, Pierce! He does great audition preparation and also is very talented! My singing has improved a lot with him. If anyone would like to improve their singing, prepare for an audition or do something along those lines, Pierce Peter Brandt is my suggestion to you!

I took 8 lessons with Pierce for preparing a surprise performance for my daughter's wedding. Initially, I thought I was too old to take singing lessons. With Pierce's encouragement, I started to learn the correct breathing exercises, how to do the vocal warm-ups, the drill exercises, etc. Though every technique was new to me, Pierce would always patiently explain them in great detail. The most important part was the he provided me excellent tips of controlling my emotion on stage since it was my weakest point. He helped me fine-cut each song I was going to sing, and made a very smooth transition between songs. Not only I learned good singing techniques from Pierce, I've gained so much self-confidence through his guidance. He made me understand one thing - it's never too late to learn. Thank you, Pierce.

I met Pierce for the first time through a Performance Singing workshop I took of his in Berkeley. The process he taught to really get inside and behind a song was very useful and added more dimension to every participant's performances of their songs. It was neat to see my and my fellow singer/classmates' performances evolve over the weeks we worked together. I especially loved that Pierce provided a space to experience ourselves in new ways - a must for performers, I believe. He is a real professional coach; positive, encouraging, and constructive.

I had a private session with Pierce to prepare for a callback for a musical. My expectations were neutral, I would say. I was very happy with how the session went, mainly because of his focus on the acting beneath the song. it was a very dramatic piece I was working on, and Pierce did not shy away from the subtext of the material at all! I actually found myself to be challenged to reach new levels of emotion, even in the single hour we worked on the two callback pieces. In fact, the piece I felt less confident in before we started became the piece I felt the most fired-up about at the end of the session. Go figure. His style is not for those wanting to just sing a pretty song and glide across the surface of the lyrics. You do have to truly want to dig deeper into the real meat and meaning of what the song means to you, and not be afraid to expose yourself on as deep a level as you dare to. I am used to doing this in the past, as I have a degree in acting, but was really heartened to find someone in the Bay Area who is committed to taking musical theater performance to a more profound level. It's not easy, but so worth it. Did I get the part, you ask? No, but that's out of my control. Did I walk out of that callback thinking I kicked a$&? Pretty much :)

He's a truthful, wonderful actor, he has a gorgeous singing voice with flawless technique, and on top of all that, he is a kind, grounded and amazing person. Anyone who has the opportunity to study with him would be lucky!

Thank you for helping me achieve something I had tried and failed to do for 21 years. You helped me figure out that missing piece, and once I found it, I've become much more confident. I got cast as "Red Riding Hood" in INTO THE WOODS, and I wanted to thank you for helping me prepare. That same week, I also auditioned for two other shows, and I used the skills you taught me to prepare. I got cast as "Wednesday" in THE ADDAMS FAMILY and the "Star to Be" in ANNIE, the precise roles I was going for. I have been doing musicals since I was ten, and I have literally never been cast in the role I auditioned for, and then it happened three times in the same week. I don't think that would have happened without your help.
– Lydia Cuffman, actor/singer
Peter took me from a mediocre singer to professional level in less than 15 sessions. I have a professional musical theater career now because of the insight and teachings of Peter Brandt. He is not only a great singing teacher and coach, but a caring man who makes me feel good about my singing in front of people. I whole-heartedly recommend him.
– Robert Faltisco, actor/singer
My teenaged son has been taking lessons with Peter for 2 years now. We had originally signed up for a month's worth of coaching to prepare my son for an audition, but Peter was so tremendous that my son began seeing him every week. My son started off with a pretty decent singing voice – he was already performing in musicals – and thanks to Peter he has elevated his skills, expanded his range, and developed control over every aspect of technique and performance. Plus, Peter is super nice and easy to work with. We are lucky to have a teacher of his experience and caliber here on the mid-peninsula.
– J. Bressler, Menlo Park, California
My daughter is very involved in musical theater and wanted some help preparing for an audition. Peter was enthusiastic, positive, and extremely professional. He poured his expertise into that hour, and my daughter left with so much confidence which she in turn brought to the audition. My daughter feels extremely comfortable working with Peter. he is always encouraging and supportive. He is a fabulous teacher and has a real knack working with young performers. He is an incredibly talented teacher and coach. [Addendum: she got the part!]

I wanted to let you know that I got into the Tisch School of the Arts drama program at New York University (NYU)! I am over the moon! I really don't think I could have done this without you. Thank you for all your support, and I am so grateful for all you have taught me.
– Michelle Browning, actor/singer
Peter is very positive and encouraging which helped greatly with my performance confidence. I had huge performance anxiety and it mostly went away after working with Peter. He will challenge you to improve, but sessions are fun and positive. I did some research before choosing Peter, and he is one of the best, if not the best, in the Bay Area. My group singing class teacher at American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco was super excited that I was working with him. He is also known for coaching the story-telling part of the songs, which is critical for musical auditions.
– David, actor/singer
I thoroughly enjoyed our session last night. Peter, this is a whole new world to explore. I am so excited! You made it very easy to think about my music in a whole new way. I felt good about just telling a story instead of singing notes and words. I had fun, was relaxed and I knew what I was doing... meaning it felt natural, as if I was simply having a conversation with a friend. This whole process has opened me up. I am simply free when I sing and am telling a story. I have a deep gratitude to you for the new world that is open to me now.

First, I want to thank you so much for the coaching you have done with my daughter. She was fantastic at her voice recital and used everything you taught her. My husband was awed by her transformation!

My daughter had her audition on Sunday. She received news today that she has been accepted into the summer program! I want to let you know how much you helped her. You are an excellent teacher and gave her some valuable tools to use in the future.
– K. LaGrutta, Pleasanton, California
Peter strikes a symbiotic balance between welcoming the student and making her/him feel comfortable while maintaining a high level of expectation and professionalism. During the week following each class session, he often, via email, gave suggestions on how to approach a particular lyric or phrase. This helped tremendously. Peter works where you are; everyone came from a different level of experience. He gently but firmly directed you to go to the next step. He continually affirmed and empowered the actors to apply the concepts to their work.
